head canon: the Foggy Swamp tribe carves betrothal necklaces from wood. and they look goddamn gorgeous. that is all.
We're still connected to them.
Time is an illusion and so is death.
drawn: 2 full body poses of Due waterbending, 1 full body and 1 closeup of Tho
yet to be drawn: 1 closeup of Due, 1 full body of Tho
i know no one cares but GUESS WHAT I AM STILL POSTING THEM
so mostly i’m just blatantly copying tai chi movements, otherwise i’m going by what’s on the show. i kinda wanna post the raw pencils, just cuz i love pencil drawings. i am gonna ink ‘em though. it’s good to be arting again. i’m a fanart addict.
should i stay up and draw more swampbending
or go to bed?
so i did some pencil drawings of Tho waterbending
i’m’a draw Due next. i don’t have a scanner anymore which is why my deviantart hasn’t been updated in a while (except for poetry)… but i was thinking of taking a photo and posting here. opinions?
i loved the Foggy Swamp Tribe before Tahno made it cool
so, it has been a long time since i’ve done anything like this. i couldn’t help myself. i’ve created fan characters.
they are a pro-bending team from the foggy swamp. i originally wanted them to be called the Catgators (of course), but it turns out that name is taken. i feel like they would be as sore about it as i am. but the Screeching Dodos does have a nice ring to it. so here they are.
the twin girls are Tho’s granddaughters. i have this idea that either he or his son/daughter married & had children with an earthbender. Qui is the waterbender, Ly is the earthbender. They are Vietnamese names: Ly means lion, and Qui means turtle. see what i did there?
Duc, meanwhile, is Due’s grandson. same deal as Tho, except he or his child married someone from the Fire Nation. i like the idea that that person was a non-bender, but passed firebending down to Duc anyway (the Foggy Swamp is very spiritual and seems to have a high concentration of benders). Duc means “desirable.” i just picked it because i liked it.
they have a pet albino catgator named Daisy (don’t judge me) who they still consider their team mascot even though they didn’t get the name they wanted. they’re just happy to be there, you know? this is all very exciting for them. they spent their whole lives in the Swamp and couldn’t resist the lure of the big city, craziness and all. they wanna see the world!
Qui is the elder sister by about thirteen minutes or so. she has kind of a take-charge attitude, while her sister Ly is more go-with-the-flow. Ly depends on her elder sister for direction and structure, while Qui depends on her younger sister to keep her calm and focused. they are both talented benders, and their styles have been heavily influenced by both waterbending and earthbending. they are incredibly coordinated. Duc is quiet but cheerful and serene. It is easy to write him off as goofy, absentminded, and scatterbrained, but he is very wise in his own way. He is very rarely seen without a smile on his face. Likewise, he may seem like a clumsy hillbilly (having inherited his grandfather’s tall, gawky build), but he is an incredibly gifted firebender. He pulls wildly complex moves with grace and tranquility. you should see him shoot lightning; it is quite a sight to behold. he’s just very zen about the whole thing.
anyway, i tried to make them resemble their grandfathers while still having features common to fire and earth nations, respectively. i will do more drawings of them; first order is to draw them as a group so you can see the height/build difference. the twins are much shorter than Duc, and have a thick, powerful (not overly muscular) build.
anyway it is late and i’m tired and i’m sorry if this description sucks. i have a lot more to say but i should prob. go to sleep ‘cause i gotta get up early tomorrow.
ps: i don’t care how trite and ridiculous this is. it’s just for fun.
pps: i wish i had a scanner. i wanna get all my recent stuff up on deviantART.
